Before the Dodgers became the Los Angeles Dodgers, they were based in Brooklyn, New York. The team was originally founded in 1883 as the Brooklyn Grays and then known as the Brooklyn Atlantics in 1884. Over the years, the team went through several names including the Brooklyn Bridegrooms, Brooklyn Trolley Dodgers, and finally, the Brooklyn Dodgers. They played at various ballparks in Brooklyn, with the most famous being Ebbets Field, where they played from 1913 until 1957. In 1957, the Dodgers played their last season in Brooklyn and then moved to Los Angeles in 1958, marking the beginning of the Los Angeles Dodgers era. The move was significant as it was part of a larger westward expansion of Major League Baseball. The Dodgers played their first years in LA at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum before moving to Dodger Stadium in 1962, which remains their home stadium today.
