Before the Los Angeles Rams were in Los Angeles, they were originally founded as the Cleveland Rams in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1936. They played in Cleveland from 1936 until 1945 and won the NFL Championship in 1945. In 1946, shortly after their championship win, the team relocated to Los Angeles where they became the first major professional sports team on the West Coast. The move was partly motivated by financial struggles in Cleveland and the opportunity to grow the franchise's brand in the rapidly growing Los Angeles area.
