It is unsafe to overtake in the following locations and conditions:
- On roads with no overtaking signs or double solid white lines that prohibit overtaking.
- Approaching or on bends, crests of hills, and dips where visibility is limited and oncoming traffic cannot be seen.
- Near junctions, intersections, and roadworks where other vehicles or pedestrians may unexpectedly appear.
- At or near pedestrian crossings, school crossings, level crossings, and where traffic is queuing.
- In poor weather conditions such as rain, fog, snow, ice, or high winds that reduce visibility and road traction.
- In tunnels and underpasses with only one lane in each direction.
- On narrow roads where there is not enough space to safely complete the maneuver.
- Near bike lanes, especially at intersections.
- When the vehicle in front is signaling to turn right or when traffic situations may create conflicts with other road users.
Overtaking should only be done if visibility is clear, the road markings allow it, and the maneuver can be completed safely without exceeding speed limits or forcing other road users to slow down or swerve.
