A catalytic converter is found in a vehicle's exhaust system. It is typically located between the engine and the muffler, either mounted inside the exhaust manifold or directly under the car along the exhaust pipe. In newer cars, catalytic converters are often integrated into the exhaust manifold to enable faster heating and better efficiency. In older cars, they can be found under the floor panel connected to the exhaust pipe. They may also be located near or under particulate filters, especially in diesel engines. The converter's role is to convert harmful gases in the exhaust into less harmful substances to reduce pollution.
