The bird with the largest wingspan in the world is the wandering albatross (Diomedea exulans), which can have a wingspan up to about 3.7 meters (12 feet 2 inches). This species holds the record for the longest wingspan among living birds, enabling it to soar great distances over the ocean with minimal effort.

Other birds with notably large wingspans include the great white pelican (up to 3.6 meters), southern royal albatross, and Dalmatian pelican (each reaching around 3.5 meters), but none exceed the wandering albatross. The Andean condor and marabou stork also have very large wingspans but are slightly smaller, around 3.2 to 3.3 meters.
