Greta Thunberg was on board the boat named "Madleen" (formerly called "Barcarole") during the June 2025 Gaza Freedom Flotilla. The Madleen was a British-flagged vessel carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza, and it was intercepted by Israeli naval forces in international waters and towed to Ashdod, Israel. Greta Thunberg and other passengers were detained and later deported after the interception.
More recently, in October 2025, Greta Thunberg was on board the Global Sumud Flotilla, a large group of about 45 to 52 boats aiming to deliver aid to Gaza. This flotilla was again intercepted by Israeli naval forces as it approached Gaza, with the Israeli military boarding one of the vessels named "Sirius," which forms part of this flotilla. Greta and the other activists aboard these boats were detained by Israeli Navy.
Thus, Greta Thunberg has been on two notable flotilla boats recently involved in attempts to deliver aid to Gaza: June 2025's Madleen and the October 2025 Global Sumud Flotilla vessels including the Sirius.
