The National Guard member who died was Army Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, a 20‑year‑old soldier from Summersville, West Virginia, serving with the West Virginia National Guard.
She was one of two West Virginia National Guard members shot near Farragut Square in Washington, D.C., and she succumbed to her injuries on November 27, 2025, while the second guardsman, Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe, remains in critical condition.
