The organ known as the "voice box" is the larynx. It is located in the neck and plays a key role in breathing, producing sound, and protecting the trachea during swallowing. The larynx houses the vocal cords, which vibrate to produce sound when air passes through them, allowing for voice production. It is sometimes referred to as the soundbox and is positioned just above the trachea and esophagus in the throat. The larynx also has a protective function with the epiglottis covering its opening during swallowing to prevent food from entering the airway.
