The reason that is NOT a valid reason to revoke an SSL certificate is expiration. SSL certificates naturally expire at the end of their validity period and do not require revocation for that reason. Other reasons to revoke an SSL certificate include private key compromise, certificate misuse, certificate authority policy violations, domain ownership changes, outdated information, malware or phishing suspicion, and wrongfully issued certificates. Expiration is simply when the certificate ceases to be valid, not a cause for revocation.
