The site known as the "Taj Mahal of the Deccan" is Bibi Ka Maqbara, located in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, India. It bears a striking resemblance to the Taj Mahal in Agra and was commissioned in 1660 by the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb's son, Prince Azam Shah, in memory of his mother Dilras Banu Begum. Despite similarities, Bibi Ka Maqbara is made mainly of plaster over a marble base, unlike the pure marble Taj Mahal, reflecting the declining resources of the empire at that time. It is the second-largest structure built by Aurangzeb and a principal monument of Aurangabad.
