The planet with the largest volcano in the solar system is Mars. The volcano is called Olympus Mons, which is an enormous shield volcano reaching about 22 kilometers (13.6 miles) high and spanning approximately 600 kilometers (373 miles) in diameter. It is nearly three times the height of Mount Everest and about 20 times wider than it is tall. Olympus Mons dwarfs any volcano on Earth in both height and volume, containing roughly 100 times the volume of Earth's largest volcano, Mauna Loa. Its immense size is attributed to Mars' low gravity and lack of tectonic plate movement, allowing lava to continuously build up over millions of years without disruption.
