An individual will be issued a restricted travel card in the following key situations:
- If the individual discloses a bankruptcy on the DD 2883 form. Bankruptcy negatively impacts financial standing and creditworthiness, leading to a restricted travel card issuance.
- If the individual refuses to authorize a credit score check (soft pull) but completes all affirmative responses on the Alternate Credit Worthiness Evaluation (DD Form 2883). This also results in issuance of a restricted travel card.
- More generally, individuals with a FICO credit score below 660 are issued restricted cards, whereas those above 659 get standard cards.
Restricted travel cards have lower credit and purchase limits compared to standard cards and are issued to manage risk related to the cardholder's financial profile.
