Kids typically lose their primary (baby) teeth between ages 6 and 12. The usual pattern is that the front bottom teeth (lower central incisors) and front top teeth (upper central incisors) are the first to go, around ages 6–7, followed by other incisors and then the canines and molars in a generally predictable order. By about age 12, most children have shed all 20 baby teeth to make way for the 32 permanent teeth, though individual timing can vary. If a tooth is notably loose before age 4 or if there are concerns about delayed or early tooth loss, it’s a good idea to check with a pediatric dentist.
