An immigrant is a person who lives in a country other than the one where they were born, with the intention of settling there permanently. Immigrants can have various legal statuses, including naturalized citizens, legal permanent residents (green card holders), refugees, and asylees. They often move voluntarily for reasons such as employment, family reunification, or better living conditions, and usually go through a vetting process before immigrating.
