New Edition is an R&B group formed in 1978 in Boston, originally consisting of Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Bobby Brown, Ronnie DeVoe, and Ralph Tresvant. Bobby Brown left in 1985 for a solo career, and Johnny Gill joined in 1987, forming the classic six-member lineup.
Current Members
The group remains active with all six original and later members: Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Bobby Brown, Ronnie DeVoe, Ralph Tresvant, and Johnny Gill. They reunited in 2016 for performances and released music, including their album Three Stripes.
