How the System Works
The FedEx Cup playoffs use a three-event elimination format. The top 70 golfers from the regular season qualify for the FedEx St. Jude Championship, then the field narrows to 50 for the BMW Championship, and finally the top 30 advance to the Tour Championship where the FedEx Cup champion is crowned.
Scheffler dominated the season with 4,873 points and over $20.5 million in earnings through 18 events, including two wins and 12 top-10 finishes. Fitzpatrick sits second with 3,426 points, while Cameron Young holds third with 3,183 points.
The Tour Championship uses a staggered starting strokes format based on FedEx Cup position, giving the leader a significant advantage heading into the final event.
