Bitcoin was created by an anonymous person or group using the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto. Nakamoto published the original Bitcoin white paper in 2008, which outlined the technology and principles behind Bitcoin. This invention solved the problem of transferring value digitally without a trusted intermediary like a bank, using concepts of private keys and the blockchain. Despite considerable investigation, the true identity of Satoshi Nakamoto remains unknown, and they have remained anonymous since around 2010.
