Lestat de Lioncourt is a fictional character from Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles novel series. He was created by the author Anne Rice. Within the story, Lestat was turned into a vampire by an older vampire named Magnus. Magnus was a 300-year-old vampire who chose Lestat as his successor and then committed suicide by throwing himself into a fire, leaving Lestat to fend for himself as a vampire without much guidance or knowledge about vampire ways.
