Justin Bieber was discovered by Scooter Braun in 2008. Braun found Bieber by chance while searching for videos of another singer on YouTube, where he came across Bieber's covers. Impressed by his talent, Braun tracked down Bieber, contacted his mother, and brought Bieber to the U.S. Usher then became involved, signing Bieber to RBMG Records, a joint venture between Braun and Usher, in October 2008. Usher helped Bieber get signed with Island Records as well. So, Scooter Braun is credited with discovering Justin Bieber, while Usher played a key role in signing and promoting him.
