who discovered the neutron?

The neutron was discovered by the English physicist James Chadwick in 1932. Chadwick's experiments demonstrated that the mysterious neutral radiation emitted by beryllium when bombarded by alpha particles was due to a new particle with no electric charge and a mass approximately equal to that of the proton. This discovery was a major milestone in nuclear physics and earned Chadwick the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1935.
