Hogsmeade was founded by a wizard named Hengist of Woodcroft. He established the village as a safe haven for witches and wizards, and he is also noted for having his own Chocolate Frog Card in the Harry Potter universe. Hengist is considered a Scottish wizard and is said to have founded Hogsmeade around the year 993 AD after fleeing from Muggle persecution many centuries ago.
