- Floyd Mayweather Jr. on September 14, 2013, by majority decision in a 12-round fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. This fight cost Canelo his WBC and The Ring super welterweight titles.
- Dmitry Bivol on May 7, 2022, by unanimous decision in a 12-round fight at the light heavyweight level, where Bivol's technical superiority earned him the win.
Both opponents were undefeated champions at the time they defeated Canelo.
