Annex A of Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) is advised for staff who do not work directly with children. Governing bodies or proprietors in schools and colleges decide whether these staff should read the full Part One of KCSIE or the condensed version found in Annex A, based on which is most effective for their safeguarding responsibilities. Staff who work directly with children are advised to read at least Part One of KCSIE, while those who do not can be directed to Annex A as an alternative. This guidance helps ensure that all staff understand their safeguarding responsibilities relevant to their role in the education setting.
