Charles James Kirk (known as Charlie Kirk) was an American conservative political activist, author, and media personality born on October 14, 1993. He co-founded the student organization Turning Point USA (TPUSA) in 2012 and served as its executive director. Turning Point USA promoted conservative principles, particularly on college campuses, and Kirk was a prominent voice in the populist MAGA movement aligned with Donald Trump. He also hosted a conservative talk radio show called The Charlie Kirk Show. Kirk was known for his advocacy against gun control, abortion, and LGBTQ rights, and for promoting Christian nationalism and spreading controversial views, including conspiracy theories and false claims about the 2020 election. He played a significant role in mobilizing youth voter turnout for Trump and expanding conservatism into a mainstream movement among young people. He was tragically shot and killed on September 10, 2025, while speaking at a public debate event at Utah Valley University. His death was widely covered and condemned as political violence.
