Dan Bongino is an American conservative political commentator, radio host, and former law enforcement officer. As of 2025, he serves as the 20th deputy director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), appointed by President Donald Trump. Bongino began his career as a New York City Police Department (NYPD) officer from 1995 to 1999 and then as a U.S. Secret Service agent from 1999 to 2011, where he served on the Presidential Protective Division for Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama. After his law enforcement career, he became a prominent conservative media figure, hosting "The Dan Bongino Show" podcast and previously hosting "Unfiltered with Dan Bongino" on Fox News until 2023. He has also run unsuccessfully for Congress three times as a Republican. Bongino is known for his staunch support of President Trump and has been involved in conservative media and political discourse for years, often spreading conspiracy theories related to elections and government investigations. He assumed his FBI deputy director position in March 2025 after leaving his media roles.
