Jacob Frey is an American politician and attorney who has served as the mayor of Minneapolis, Minnesota, since 2018. He previously served on the Minneapolis City Council from 2014 to 2018. Frey is a member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL). He was elected mayor in 2017 and has been reelected in subsequent terms, including a third-term victory reported in 2025. His tenure as mayor has included leading the city through responses to homelessness and policing reforms, and he has been a central figure in Minneapolis politics since taking office.
