Jake Tapper is an American journalist who is the chief Washington anchor for CNN. He hosts a daily news program called "The Lead with Jake Tapper" and co- hosts the Sunday public affairs program "State of the Union." Tapper is also an accomplished author, having written books including The Outpost: An Untold Story of American Valor. Before CNN, he worked for ABC News as senior White House correspondent and has earned several journalism awards, including Emmy Awards and the Merriman Smith Award for presidential coverage. He is recognized for his fair and balanced reporting and has moderated major presidential debates. Tapper graduated from Dartmouth College and has a background in political press work and freelance journalism.
