Laura Trott is a British Conservative Party politician who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sevenoaks since 2019. She was born on December 7, 1984, in Oxted, England, and studied history and economics at the University of Oxford. Trott has held various political roles including Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Pensions, Chief Secretary to the Treasury (from November 2023 to July 2024), and as of November 2024, she serves as the Shadow Education Secretary. She was the first woman elected to represent the Sevenoaks constituency. Before her parliamentary career, she worked as a political adviser and in communications, and was appointed an MBE for her political and public service. She has a background in policy formulation and government communications and has been involved in family and education policy development.
