Mel Owens is a former professional American football linebacker who played nine seasons for the Los Angeles Rams in the NFL after being selected in the first round of the 1981 NFL draft. He played college football at the University of Michigan. After retiring from football, he became a sports lawyer in California, specializing in representing athletes concerning injuries and disability benefits. Owens was born in Detroit in 1958 and later became publicly known as the star of season 2 of the ABC reality TV show "The Golden Bachelor" in 2025. He was previously married for 25 years and has two sons. Owens is seeking love again through the show, having been divorced since 2020.
