In Germany, Santa is most commonly known as der Weihnachtsmann , which literally means “the Christmas man.”
In many regions, especially in southern and traditionally Catholic areas, the Christkind (Christ Child) is also regarded as the bringer of Christmas gifts instead of or alongside the Weihnachtsmann.
