Scott Hoying is an American singer, musician, and songwriter born on September 17, 1991, in Arlington, Texas. He gained international fame as the baritone of the a cappella group Pentatonix, which has released multiple albums, won three Grammy Awards, and achieved mainstream success in the modern market. Hoying studied popular music performance at the University of Southern California, where he developed his passion for a cappella music. Pentatonix started as a trio with Hoying and two friends, and after expanding to five members, they won the reality-show competition The Sing-Off in 2011, which launched their career. Beyond Pentatonix, Hoying is a three-time Grammy and Emmy Award winner, producer, arranger, and solo artist with a debut solo EP released in 2023. He is active in supporting youth, arts, and LGBTQ+ communities and has worked on various projects including co-creating the girl group Citizen Queen and contributing to children’s books and entertainment series. He is married to Mark Manio since July 2023 and has a notable presence on social media and in the music industry as a multifaceted artist.
