The final boss of Bubble Bobble for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) is called Super Drunk (also known as Grumple Grommit in the manual). He appears at the end of the 100th level or stage. To defeat him, players need to use a special lightning potion to turn their bubbles into lightning bubbles, which can capture him. However, defeating him in single-player mode results in a bad ending, and the game hints the true ending requires playing and defeating him with two players. The two-player victory reveals a happy ending where Bub and Bob's girlfriends are rescued, and further clues lead to more content called Super Bubble Bobble mode. Super Drunk is depicted as a large enemy who attacks by shooting bottles and is too big to be bubbled normally.
