The Greek goddess of peace is Eirene (also spelled Irene). She is one of the Horae, goddesses of the seasons and natural order, and is the personification of peace in Greek mythology. Eirene is typically depicted as a beautiful young woman carrying a cornucopia (symbolizing abundance), a scepter, and sometimes a torch. She is the daughter of Zeus and Themis and sister to goddesses of justice and order. One famous statue in ancient Athens showed Eirene holding the infant Plutus, the god of wealth, symbolizing that prosperity comes with peace. The Athenians highly revered her and erected altars and statues in her honor after victories that led to peace.
