Dr Pepper was created in 1885 by Charles Alderton, a young pharmacist working at Morrison's Old Corner Drug Store in Waco, Texas. Alderton experimented with mixing different fruit flavors to develop a unique soft drink formula. The drink quickly became popular with customers, who initially called it a "Waco." The store owner, Wade Morrison, later named the beverage "Dr Pepper" after a Virginia doctor named Charles Pepper, though the exact reason for the name remains uncertain.
