Mary Poppins was created by P. L. Travers as the author of the Mary Poppins book series. The widely known film adaptation that popularized the character and the story is a 1964 musical produced by Walt Disney, directed by Robert Stevenson, with Julie Andrews in the title role. The screenplay was written by Bill Walsh and Don DaGradi, based on Travers’s books, and the music was by the Sherman Brothers.
