Guinness is currently owned by Diageo, a British-based multinational alcoholic beverages company. Diageo was formed in 1997 from the merger of Guinness plc and Grand Metropolitan. While the Guinness family no longer owns the brewery outright, they retain a stake in Diageo, which was reported to be worth around £200 million in 2017. Diageo owns numerous famous brands, including Guinness, Johnnie Walker, Baileys, and others, making it one of the largest beverage companies in the world. The Guinness family no longer sits on the board of the company.
