Renowned Australian winemaker Bob Oatley and his family purchased the island in 2003 through 21st Century Resorts Holdings Pty Ltd, a company controlled by the Oatley family. Since acquiring the island, they have invested heavily in its development and maintenance, turning it into a world-class luxury tourist destination with significant infrastructure, including resorts, a marina, and a golf course. The Oatley family continues to manage and invest in the island's operations and improvements.
