Instagram is owned by Meta Platforms, Inc., the parent company of Facebook. Meta acquired Instagram in 2012 for $1 billion, and it remains a part of Meta's portfolio of social media services under the leadership of Mark Zuckerberg, who is the CEO of Meta. The original founders of Instagram, Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, sold the app to Meta and eventually left the company in 2018.
