Leucovorin, also known as folinic acid, was historically marketed by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) under the brand name Wellcovorin from 1983 to 1997. However, GSK no longer manufactures or markets leucovorin, which is now widely available as a generic drug produced by multiple manufacturers. Other companies such as Hikma Pharmaceuticals, Fresenius Kabi, Sagent, Meitheal Pharmaceuticals, and Slate Run Pharmaceuticals currently manufacture and supply leucovorin in various formulations. GSK remains the NDA holder in the U.S. and is involved in label updates for leucovorin but does not commercially produce it anymore.
