The Mysore Palace is owned by the Wadiyar royal family, who were the historic rulers of Mysore. However, the management, maintenance, and major part ownership of the palace are handled by the Government of Karnataka. The royal family retains ownership of a private section where they reside, while the rest of the palace is administered as a museum and tourist attraction by the government. The current head of the family is Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, who inherited the palace in 2013. Revenue from the palace, including tourist fees, is shared between the government and the royal family.
