Paramount Pictures is owned by Paramount Skydance Corporation, a media company formed through the 2025 merger of Paramount Global and Skydance Media. This transaction made Paramount Pictures a subsidiary within the larger Paramount Skydance group.
Current owner
Paramount Global, the former parent of Paramount Pictures, agreed to merge with Skydance Media in a deal valued at about 28 billion dollars, completed in 2025. After the merger, the combined entity was structured as Paramount Skydance Corporation, which now controls Paramount Pictures and other entertainment assets.
Control and leadership
The merger shifted control from the Redstone family (through National Amusements) to the Ellison family, with Skydance founder David Ellison taking the top leadership role in the new company. As a result, while Paramount Pictures continues to operate as a major Hollywood studio, its ultimate corporate owner is now Paramount Skydance under Ellison’s leadership.
