Scout Motors is owned by the German automotive manufacturer Volkswagen Group. It operates as an American division and member of the Volkswagen Group companies. Volkswagen AG acquired the Scout brand after purchasing the American truck manufacturer International Motors (previously Navistar) in 2021, and then relaunched it in 2022. Scout Motors functions as an independent company managed separately from Volkswagen AG, with its own executive team and board members, but remains a wholly owned subsidiary of Volkswagen Group.
