The Beer Store is primarily owned by three multinational brewing companies: Molson-Coors, Labatt (owned by Anheuser-Busch InBev), and Sleeman (owned by Japan's Sapporo). It is also partially owned by about 30 Ontario-based smaller brewers who hold less than 0.02% collectively. The Beer Store operates under an open ownership model where qualifying Ontario-based brewers can become shareholders, but the vast majority of shares are held by these three large brewing companies. The company is governed by the Liquor Control Act of Ontario and regulated by the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO).
