The Chicago Cubs are owned by the Ricketts family. Since October 27, 2009, the Ricketts family has held a 95-percent ownership interest in the Cubs, Wrigley Field, and related assets, with Thomas (Tom) Ricketts acting as the chairman of the Cubs' board. The family acquired the team from the Tribune Company in a transaction valued at around $845 million. Before the Ricketts family, the Cubs were owned by the Tribune Company (1981-2009), and prior to that, by the Wrigley family for nearly 60 years starting in 1922.
