who propounded the concept of food web

The concept of the food web was propounded by Charles Elton. He introduced the ideas of food cycles, food chains, and the ecological niche in his classical 1927 book "Animal Ecology." Elton originally used the term "food web" to describe the complex interconnections of food chains, and his work laid the foundation for much of modern ecological understanding of trophic dynamics. His concept was later expanded by others such as Raymond Lindeman, who emphasized the role of decomposers in the trophic system.
