The phrase "Houston, we have a problem" is a popular misquotation of the actual words spoken by the Apollo 13 astronauts during their 1970 mission. The real communication was first made by astronaut John "Jack" Swigert who said, "Okay, Houston, we've had a problem here," followed by Jim Lovell, the mission commander, who repeated, "Ah, Houston, we've had a problem. We've had a Main B Bus Undervolt." This was a report to NASA's Mission Control Center in Houston about a critical failure on the spacecraft. The phrase became widely known and slightly altered to "Houston, we have a problem" after the 1995 film Apollo 13 popularized it. The actual astronauts who said the original lines were Jim Lovell and Jack Swigert.
