In a building where a jacking operation is taking place, only the following people should be present:
- All qualified persons capable of monitoring jacking safety to ensure the operation is conducted safely.
- Supervisors of employees conducting the jacking operations to oversee the process.
- Only employees essential to the jacking operation should be present to minimize unnecessary personnel in the area.
No employees who are not essential to the jacking operation should be allowed in the building/structure during the jacking operation unless the building has been sufficiently reinforced to ensure its integrity during erection, as determined by an independent registered professional engineer. Also, under no circumstances should any employee who is not essential be permitted immediately beneath a slab while it is being lifted.
