Jeffrey Epstein was an American financier and convicted sex offender, known for his vast wealth and connections to powerful individuals. Born on January 20, 1953, in New York City, he began his career as a teacher before moving into finance, eventually founding his own investment firm and managing the wealth of billionaire Leslie Wexner. Epstein cultivated an elite social circle and was accused of running a large-scale sex trafficking network involving underage girls. His criminal activities first came to light in 2005 with investigations into sexual abuse of minors. Epstein pleaded guilty in 2008 to procuring a child for prostitution and solicitation of prostitution, serving about 13 months in jail under a controversial plea deal. In July 2019, he was arrested again on federal charges for sex trafficking of minors but died by suicide in his jail cell a month later while awaiting trial. Epstein’s death sparked numerous conspiracy theories and ongoing investigations into his criminal network and associates, including Ghislaine Maxwell, who was convicted for helping him procure girls for abuse.
