Ed Gein's confirmed victims were two women: Mary Hogan and Bernice Worden. Mary Hogan, a tavern owner, disappeared in December 1954, and Bernice Worden, a hardware store owner, went missing in November 1957. Gein was found responsible for their murders when authorities discovered Worden's body at Gein's farm, along with human remains used to make various macabre items. Gein confessed to killing both women, but no other murders were legally proven, despite rumors and suspicions of additional victims, including his brother. Gein was found not guilty by reason of insanity and spent the rest of his life in psychiatric institutions until his death in 1984.
