Subaru’s team in Re:Zero is mainly made up of the people supporting Emilia’s Royal Selection campaign. The core group includes Emilia, Beatrice, Otto Suwen, Garfiel Tinsel, Frederica Baumann, Petra Leyte and Roswaal L. Mathers. Depending on the story arc, characters such as Ram, Rem, Patrasche and Julius Juukulius also fight alongside Subaru or assist his group.
The Core Members
- Natsuki Subaru : The leader and strategist of the group. Although he lacks overwhelming physical power, his ability, Return by Death, lets him learn from failure and search for a way to save everyone.
- Emilia : The half-elf candidate Subaru supports. She is a powerful spirit arts user and the central figure of the Emilia Camp.
- Beatrice : Subaru’s contracted spirit and one of the team’s strongest magic users. Her yin magic and knowledge make her invaluable in dangerous situations.
- Otto Suwen : Subaru’s close friend and an important adviser. His ability to communicate with animals and insects, combined with his practical thinking, makes him useful both in battle and planning.
- Garfiel Tinsel : A powerful demi-human warrior who protects the Sanctuary and later becomes one of Subaru’s most dependable fighters.
- Frederica Baumann : A capable maid and skilled combatant who helps protect Roswaal’s mansion and the people living there.
- Petra Leyte : A young maid who supports the mansion group. She isn’t a frontline fighter, but she contributes through her courage, quick learning and practical skills.
- Roswaal L. Mathers : Emilia’s sponsor and one of the strongest magicians in Lugunica. He belongs to the camp, although his goals and methods often make him difficult for Subaru to trust.
Important Allies
Ram is closely connected to Roswaal and the mansion, and she often supports the group despite her sharp attitude. Her wind magic and combat ability make her a valuable ally. Rem is also part of Subaru’s wider circle. Her role changes significantly depending on the arc and her memories, but she remains one of the most important people in Subaru’s life. Patrasche , Subaru’s loyal ground dragon, is another essential member of the group. She helps him travel through dangerous areas and has repeatedly shown remarkable bravery. Julius Juukulius is not a permanent member of the Emilia Camp, but he becomes an important ally during major conflicts. His relationship with Subaru is complicated, yet the two can cooperate when the situation demands it. The exact lineup changes throughout Re:Zero , since the story frequently separates its characters and introduces temporary alliances. Still, Subaru, Emilia, Beatrice, Otto and Garfiel form the group most commonly recognized as Subaru’s main team.
